Original working IntoTheMap reconstruction of the water-clock principle associated with Ctesibius of Alexandria, one of the most important hydraulic engineers of the Hellenistic world.

Ctesibius improved earlier Egyptian clepsydra water clocks by linking multiple vessels together. The first served as a water supply, while the second maintained a nearly constant water level through an overflow arrangement. This produced a more consistent flow into the final vessel. As water accumulated there, a cork float rose with the water level and lifted a pointer against a marked scale, turning the gradual rise of the float into a visible indication of elapsed time.
