A simple machine that uses offset snail cams in alternating brass and steel to introduce an element of timing into a printing press. A slight offset between each cam changes the order of the press against the paper. As the cams turn they push spring loaded rods with letters on the ends of them into the paper, the letters being previously inked. After the letter touches the paper the rod snaps back to its starting location with a satisfying click. Letters can be swapped easily and are limited to 10 characters/numbers. Of particular interest is the cranking handle, salvaged from a broken early 1900’s apple peeler.
